5 Best Things to Do in Malta This Summer 2025

If you’re planning a summer escape to Malta, you’re in for a season packed with energy, culture and stunning views. From vibrant festivals and beach days to historic cities and lively nights out, there’s no shortage of ways to soak up the island’s atmosphere. Whether you’re here for a few days or a few weeks, here are some of the top things to do in Malta this summer.

Malta Best Summer Festival

1. Visit a Festival

In July, Malta hosts the Isle of MTV concert, which is part of a week-long festival with club nights, boat parties and more. Keep an eye out for 2025’s confirmed dates as huge musicians visit the island to perform. Malta has seen the likes of Lady Gaga, One Republic, DJ Snake and many more in recent years.

From July 3rd to 12th, Malta hosts the Farsons Beer Festival. This is a week-long event with over-flowing beer and various music stages, ranging from rock to techno, set up in Ta Qali with local bands shining their talent.

In August, another music festival which hits the Maltese Islands is SummerDaze. Again, keep an eye out for this year’s confirmed dates which should be around August 15th (a public holiday in Malta). Sam Smith, Tyga and Anne-Marie are just some of the music stars who have previously performed. Make sure to bring your friends, festival outfits, water and plenty of sunblock to dance the nights away.

2. Visit a Beach or Relax by our Pool

Malta has 300 days of sun, with temperatures peaking in summer, so visiting one of Malta’s many beaches or pools is a must. When visiting sandy beaches such as Mellieha, Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Sands there will also be a variety of water activities available from jet skis to paddle boats.

Other beaches can be found across Gozo and Comino which are Malta’s sister islands that are just a ferry ride away. We recommend visiting Ramla L-Hamra in Gozo or the Blue Lagoon in Comino to add some variety to your trip. Comino is an uninhabited island, so ideally come prepared with your own water and packed lunch. However, food and drink stands are available.

For some history and culture whilst visiting the Maltese islands, you should definitely pay a visit to our capital city Valletta and the old capital city Mdina. In Valletta, you will find a mix of culture, history, food and drinks – a perfect day out for everyone!

Mdina, also known as the silent city, is steeped with natural history and has been the home to numerous filming locations such as for Game of Thrones and The Count of Monte Cristo.
